The original concept behind Air Prompter® was born of a challenge to mount a teleprompter on a steadicam. This was a formidable task by itself back in 1994 when I first started working on the design and researching LCD and Flat panel technology. It not only had to be light-weight, it also had to work outdoors. By 1995, the design was complete.
Air Prompter®
had its first test
run in the south of France in Monaco for the ABC special,
"Masters of Magic from Monaco." It was a hit from the
very beginning, not only for the talent, but also for
the director, Kent Weed and the steadicam operator, Dave
Eastwood. And it was only fitting that the first person
to use Air Prompter®
would be royalty:
Princess Stephanie.
Even today, Air Prompter® is the most sought after teleprompter for use on a steadicam because the mounting design is very simple and the size to weight ratio is still unmatched: a 9.5 inch display at only 3 lbs. !
